OUR TEAMS

Senior Men
Taroona has two Senior men's teams, playing in the Premiership (first grade) and Championship (reserve grade) competitions. We train as one group and have a strong squad mentality rather than playing as two separate teams.
Players turning 18 in 2022, who do not have a junior competition in which to play, are encouraged to join the club, and to gain approval to join the senior men's squad.
New players at all skill levels are welcome. Training is at 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Rugby Park New Town.

Senior & Junior Women
Taroona currently fields a senior women's team, playing in the 7s roster and combining to play 15s when games are available. We are also looking to build on our U16 girls' team by fielding an U17 team in 2022, as well as continuing to look for opportunities for U13 and U15 girls.
We are always on the lookout for new players and welcome newcomers at all skill levels with any experience.
Training is 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursday at Rugby Park New Town.

Training is held from 4.30pm - 5:30pm on Tuesday and Thursdays at Rugby Park New Town.

Preseason training for the 2022 season begins on Tuesday 8th Feb for both Men's and Women's teams.

Emperor Penguins Club
The Emperor Penguins Club is a group of our most devout supporters who get together for three lunches throughout the season prior to three key home games. There is a core of past players, parents and partners of the current team who make up this great group.
Membership provides a counter meal and beer, wine or bubbles ahead of these three matches.

OUR SPONSORS
OUR CLUB
When a group of innovative and dedicated men got together at the Imperial Hotel in Hobart back in 1947 with the idea to form the Taroona Rugby Club, they would not have imagined it would continue for 70 years and turn into the great club it has become.
Recent history has seen on-field success in the senior men’s division with premierships in 2007, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2020, but it is off the field where the club comes into its own. The strong culture we have developed has allowed us to focus on developing junior rugby and pathways into senior rugby. Our culture has allowed us to expand our strong on field performance into success in women’s rugby at senior and junior level.
The club is also an active member of the community with charity events each year which not only raise money but awareness for worthy causes. We honour past players and welcome new supporters through our Emperor Penguins Club, with lunches and events build around key games in the roster each year.
Taroona at its core is a family club. Whether you have a long history in the sport and have moved to Hobart or are looking to try something new and meet new people. Everyone is welcome and made to feel at home at Taroona.
Rugby is what brings us together, but it is our club that keeps us together.
The Taroona Rugby Club is a member of the Tasmanian Rugby Union.
